When I first met Kerstin, she was married to Ristomatti Ratia and working with Marimekko as a designer. I met her at Armi's country place, Bøkars. We became good friends.
On my recent trip to Finland, Guntar and I went to visit her. She lives in a beautiful wilderness setting surrounded by nature and old, local buildings and artifacts.

During summer weekends Kerstin operates a shop out of the many old farm buildings, selling things that she has collected on her travels as well as many items that she makes, from sewn teddy bears to cast concrete containers and decorative items. She also gives classes to adults and children in various crafts. Her whole environment is like a fairy tale.

Sten Enbom is an author of many books and is presently working on a book about the ceramic artist Birger Kaipiainen. Sälkulla was the summer place of Sten's parents and they brought old farm buildings from various areas to their place and created their own museum. One of the buildings is set up and furnished as a museum, the rest are filled to the rafters with odds and ends, collectables and handicrafts, many made by Kerstin.
