The “Twenty-two Lounge”, Windsor Arms Hotel. 1968.
Some time after the opening of the "Three Small Rooms" restaurant, I received an urgent call from George Minden.
“We need your help immediately”. There had been a fire in the “Tweny-two Lounge” and we had to repair the damage and give the room a new look. I started work and also designed some new furniture in the process. We needed a compact, comfortable, swivel lounge chair on castors, so that it could easily be moved around. Again Garry Sonnenberg of Craftwood products came on board and we developed some new chairs, stools and tables.
Once the work was done and the room was ready to open, George Minden ran the following ad in the Globe and Mail.
“JANIS KRAVIS SAYS THAT IT'S OKAY TO COME BACK NOW!”
“Janis is our architect. He’s just finished work on the “Twent-Two” and it looks great. New chairs, new tables, new carpet, new everything. Almost. We kept Herbie Helbig to play the cocktail hour 5:30 to 7:30 and Paul Drake to sing and play 9 to 1. So come back to “Twenty-Two”, in the Windsor Arms Hotel 22 St.Thomas Street.
Janis Kravis says it’s okay now.”
